Spain is located on the Iberian Peninsula.
Its territories are :The Iberian Peninsula mostly, Balearic Islands (Mediterranean Sea), Canary Islands( Atlantic Ocean ), Ceuta and Melilla (located on the north of Africa).
Spain is in a democratic system since 1996. The actual Constitution was created in the year 1978. The Head of State is : King Juan Carlos I , since 22 November 1975. The Head of Government : President Mariano Rajoy ( elected 20 November 2011). Cabinet : Council of Ministers designated by the Prime Ministre.

Biography :
He was born the 24th of February of 1545 or 1547 in Regensburg (Germany).
He was the iligitimated son of Charles I of Spain / Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire and Barbara Blomberg a burgher´s daughter .
He was baptized as Jerónimo, but they called "Jeremín".
He was raised in Castile and did not know his father until Charles was in the Monastery of Yuste (Extremadura) in 1556.
Was Philip II who following the testamentery instructions of his father , recognized him as a member of the Royal family and gave him the name of : Don John of Austria. Giving him honors of an infant (1559).
He completed his education at the University of Álcala de Henares , but refused to pursue an ecclesiastical career and decided to be a military.
His determined military vocation made the King put him in command of a squadron to fight the Barbary Pirates in the Mediterranean (1568).
Then he demostrated his military talent managing the Suppression of the revolt of the moriscos of the Kingdom of Granada.(1569).
That success allowed him complete his military career , obtaining the Supreme Command of the fleet of the Holy League that formed formed Spain, Venice and the Papacy against the Turks.(1570)
Against the defensive strategy that favoured its more prudent advisers , Don John of Austria imposed his criteria of search to the Turkish fleet and sink it, got in the battle of Lepanto (1571).
He rejected their demands to be recognized officially as an infant with treatment of Highness.
He created his own coat of arms :
The King sent as a Governor to the Netherlands (1576) , to put an end to the Protestant rebellion. But he failed.
He died of Typhus , October 1, 1578 in Namur, Netherlands.
His body was dissected,returned to Spain,reassembled and placed by PhilipII to rest in the unfished crypt of the Escorial .

Dawn of October 7,1561,when began one of the largest battles in the history of mankind.
It was a war between The Holy League ( Venice, Papacy and Spain) against the Turks.
This vast naval forcé, would decide the fate of two Empires representatives of two civilizations a pop-up and other consolidated in its territory .
This battle is considered the most bloody naval battle of all time. The Turks were determined to conquer West and reached Gibraltar.
The performance of Don John of Austria was decise in the victory because his idea was : an aggressive war ;look for the Turkish fleet beyond wherever he was and destroy it.
His pursuit of victory and the courage in this types of battles ,mixture of naval and land because once the ships arrived they fought hand to hand.
For the Turks, Lepanto meant the lost of its Navy , because the League took an impressive number of their galleys.
The Spanish fleet was the most powerful in the Mediterranean , Don John of Austria liberated Christians rowing in the Turkish galleys and in addition the galley slaves of Spanish galleys that acted loyalty in the bout .
This pointed out historians as Braundel or M.Fernández Álvarez or Miguel deCervantes.
Lepanto was also commemorated by G.K.Chesterton , who wrote a poem by the battle while he was still Anglican.
Don Juan of Austria told his crew :
" Men, to die we have come, or to overcome if the sky has it.
Not give occasion to make the enemiy with wicked arrogance ask you where is your God ?
Fight in his holy name, because dead or victoorius , will have it achieve immortality"
